Almost 25 years have passed since we marched at the public auditorium where we held our graduation ceremony. We were wearing our school uniforms instead of the traditional white graduation dresses for girls and formal wear for boys because our town was devastated by typhoon “Dinang” during Christmas Day on our senior years, but then we were still geared-up and went up the stage and received our high school diplomas!
After our high school graduation, many of us have left our hometown to seek their own fate in other places and some have pursued college education but many have stayed and carry on the normal life in our hometown. Batchmates, wherever we are now, and as we celebrate our Silver Jubilee let us all be proud and say “Thank You” to our dear Alma Mater, the Sta. Magdalena High School (SMHS) and to our former teachers for the knowledge we acquired and for the wonderful time we had during our high school days. Yes, EDUCATION is the best gift SMHS had bestowed on us.
Whether we accept it or not, we are all in 40’s now, however, this doesn't stop from having fun and reminiscing our high school days and thereafter. In your four high school formative years, can you still remember?
- Your first crush or first love; or your best friend or your group hang-outs;
- Your favorite and not-so favorite teachers; the quizzes & periodical tests; projects; etc. etc.
- Our COCC initiation and CAT formation na minsan inaabot sin gabi an ato drill;
- An petition ta sa pahiyom-hiyom na principal, mao san ato English teacher, remember? With placards pa sadto na inhirimo, hehehe;
- An ralab-og ta sa fishpond kay makahimo sin sangdupa na layhon magka-grade hamok sa YDT minsan may bayanihan pa kon Sabado;
- An makakanta hamok sa Music/YDT maski wara sa tono kay wara pa man sadto sin Karaoke;
- The Bivouac from SMHS campus to Manangkas na maogmahon lalo na yadto na may partners, hehehe;

- An ginat-an na luto san mga HE girls, ice-candy kara Jane, an turo-tindahan sadto Uya Lalay, turon & mapasoon na ginat-an nira Uya Ana, turon & sinapot nira Joaquin, mapinit na softdrinks in plastic….
- The songs of Sharon – High School Life, Bing Rodrigo – Gintong Araw, the 80’s Disco – Turning Japanese, Freak-Out, My Sharona, Ring My Bell & the favorite love song “Wonderful Tonight” for many love teams during our high school (no comment!), hehehe.
Thereafter, do you also remember these?
- Our small parties, picnics in Olango & Liang Beaches, kay wara pa sadto an Balading Beach;
- Our group-walk paborolod kay manirilot or parasyada kon bulanon and attend the “barayle sa kurudalan”;
- Our Solid Batch Basketball Team participation in our town’s summer basketball tournaments;
- Our lively participation in previous Alumni Homecoming during Easter Sunday
- Our initiative to donate a span of “concrete padir” at our dear Alma Mater which made us proud being SOLID BATCH.
And…the most exciting memories - when we all gather in a classmate's house talking with curiosity about “si ku-an baga”, “aw mao”, “haen na daw”, “badi sira na”, “akay man”, “aw mayad”? Well, these moments also add spice to our “simpleng buhay-buhay” and as we realized our lives then were full of simple pleasures.
Dear Batchmates, let us reminisce them all together. April 7-8-9, 2007 is a date! Be there during our Silver Jubilee Homecoming! We can not afford to miss this once-in-a-lifetime affair. It’s your last chance before you think of attending the Golden Jubilee, twenty-five years later!
We need your cooperation and participation to make our Silver Jubilee Homecoming very memorable for all of us. Please keep in touch by contacting us and get involved… See you all soon!!!
